The 6th generation Skylake and 7th generation KabyLake, both use LGA 1151 socket so it is likely that 6th generation motherboards will support KabyLake processors with a BIOS update!

BIOS is what matters.. Standards are same, for lower end cpu like i7700K you need LGA1151 mobo. Intel has announced that i77950x will be having LGA 2011-3 which is same as old generation skylake..

    So fingers crossed.
Ur motherboard may support it, if u are rocking a skylake

Skylake mobos support kabylake,So getting a Z170 mobo will be a good upgrade path as u can use both sky and kaby cpu's
